Company Manager

We are seeking a personable, organized, and detail-oriented Company Manager to act as the principal liaison with performers, teaching artists, volunteers and chorus members, and tradition-bearers, working under the guidance of the Production Manager to ensure everyone involved in our performances and programs receives the support and care needed to deliver a high-quality production – and have a good time doing it!

The Company Manager is responsible for coordinating and supporting all applicable travel, lodging, hospitality, and other needs for all individuals involved in Revels’ productions year-round. This position works closely with the Production Manager to manage all contracts, negotiations, payroll, and stipulations in accordance with various industry unions. The Company Manager is responsible for recruiting, managing, and maintaining strong relationships with our community volunteers and for collecting feedback from audiences, performers, and partners to help us improve our programming and operations.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Artist / Performer Hospitality and Service

  • Coordinate, arrange, and manage travel and temporary local housing for guest performers
  • Meet and greet guest performers, assist with online or in-person logistics
  • Remain available to performers for the duration of their engagement
  • Order, arrange, or provide hospitality (F&B, etc.) and local transportation as needed
  • Conduct performer onboarding, orientation, and post-event feedback surveys, online or in-person
  • Manage and keep records of all aspects of performers’ contractual ticketing
  • Collect all information and provide to ticket office, distribute tickets as needed

Program and Production Administration

  • Coordinate all contracts for performers, teaching artists, cast, chorus, and tradition-bearers
  • Maintain contracting, housing, travel, hospitality, and ticketing tracking documents for each production
  • Prepare reports and track status of the above
  • Work with Production Manager to track and reconcile all production expenses and receipts
  • Assist Production Manager with documentation for various labor unions as needed
  • Create and submit payment requests to ensure contracted payments are issued in timely manner
  • Collect program information and bios from artists, performers, chorus, tradition-bearers, and teaching artists and prepare for use on website and in publicity materials
  • Implement post-event feedback surveys for performances and programs, summarizing findings and recommendations to be shared within the organization
  • Ensure well-stocked and maintained rehearsal room and backstage areas
  • Recruit, manage, and build and maintain strong relationships with event volunteers, community chorus volunteers, and office volunteers

Skills and Experience Required

  • A sincere and proactive commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Previous experience in company management, stage management, production management, and / or hospitality
  • Familiarity with COVID safety regulations
  • Strong customer service skills and experience in conflict resolution
  • Ability and passion to work inclusively with all ages, diverse populations, and community volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively under time pressures and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an extended team
  • Ability to develop and sustain long-term relationships with a broad range of performers, volunteers, contractors, and community members of all ages and diverse populations
  • High level of computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office, G Suite, spreadsheets, and collaboration software (Slack)

Additional Details

  • This is a part-time, permanent position. The hourly rate range is $20-$25 per hour based on a time commitment of 20-24 hours per week.
  • The Revels benefits package includes medical and dental insurance, paid holidays, vacation, sick, and personal days, and the ability to contribute to a pre-tax 403b retirement fund
  • Opportunity for a flexible work schedule with additional paid hours likely in December and January. Some evening and weekend work is required.
